A/N: Lyrics and title from Sia's My Love

Beat inside me, leave you blind
My love, you have found peace
You were searching for release
You gave it all into the call
You took a chance and
You took the fall for us

"Here you go guys, table for six. I'll just go get you the menus," The waitress said, leaving us to seat ourselves. I smile as Paul argues with Leah over sitting in the corner, I smile when Jake orders them about and I take my seat grinning goofily as Leah scowls at Jake and kicks him surreptiously beneath the table. Looking around the diner while Embry and Quil debated the merits of burgers versus hot dogs, I watch the other customers interact with each other. An old woman smiled happily, touching the hand of a man sat at her table. I watch the kids from Forks, kids my age, laugh and joke with each other. I watch as a dark haired woman approached a girl sat alone and tapped her on the shoulder. The girl nodded before the woman left her again and I watched as she turned her head towards me- towards the noise coming from our table.

The world slowed down as I watched the way her hand touched her forehead with gentle, timid fingertips before she pushed her hair back from her face and behind her ear, curling slightly and revealing her face. Her cheeks flushed with heat, pale peach turning crimson beneath her downcast gaze. I watched as her breath caught in her throat, her lips pressing together before red tongue darted out and licked nervously. She looked up at me with warm brown eyes and caught my gaze and then- smiled at me. She smiled.

"Seth- Hello? Anyone there?" Calloused, dirt streaked hands waved in front of my eyes forcing my attention away from her. "Dude, you totally spaced out. Which is better burgers or hot dogs?"

"What?" I asked looking at Embry confused. They were staring at me but I couldn't- couldn't concentrate on them. My head turning at the sound of a chair pushed back, the squeak of rubber against the tiled floor getting closer and closer. Someone called her name, making her falter and turn for a second. Her fingers brushed against my arm, accidental but the touch- it was like electricity. I knocked my chair over as I stood suddenly, breaking the contact between us. I stared down at her, breathing heavily as she girl stared back at me curiously.

"Seth! What is with you today?" Leah barked at me. I stared at the girl nervously, my fingers curling into my palms as I tried to control myself. I looked around awkwardly before I tried to pick the chair back up stumbling ungracefully as she reached out to help. Straightening up as she touched my hand, I let the chair clatter to the floor. " I'm sorry about my brother, he was dropped on his head as a kid. Repeatedly"

Leah's arm is heavy, hot around my shoulders for a moment before she bends and picks up the chair. I can't help the growl when the girl smiles at Leah, not me. That's my smile. That's mine.

"That's alright," She replies, the girl and looks curiously at me. Like I'm a puzzle she can't quite figure out. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you."

I open my mouth, staring at her, willing the words to come out but- but nothing. I can't say a word to her.

"Coraline!" A man's voice calls. She turns her head, her hair falling across her shoulders and down her chest. I watch her even as she stares at the other man. He's tall, taller than her and older. He smiles at her and waves her over, the darker hair woman crossing towards him. I can feel her hesitate for a moment before she calls back.

"Coming dad, I'm coming." She pauses, smiling at us for a moment and then staring up at me. "Sorry again."

I reach for her hand as she moves, my fingers grasping air as she moves quickly through the diner towards the man. I hear the doorbell chime as her father holds the door for her and watch as she disappears out of it. The room feels darker, lonelier without her in it. Her smell, her smile, the warmth in her hands, the way she looked at me.

"Dude, what was that about?" Embry asks confused. And I look at him, at Leah and the others before I manage to speak.

"Imprint. Imprint." I gasp out before moving, running out the diner's doors.
