Title: The Curious Misadventures of Coraline in the Night Time
Rating: PG
Summary: Coraline discovers Cain has a secret that he doesn't want to share.
Notes: XOVER. Tabula Rasa Verse. And it's all [livejournal.com profile] andrealyn's fault.

Covers pulled up past her nose, she opened her eyes and watched as Cain made furtive movements towards one of the wooden sets of drawers in the room. Tugging out a key from beneath his vest, he unlocked the drawer and pulled it out quietly. Sighing at the sight of something inside, he looked around guiltily before reaching into the drawer-

Glitch muttered something loudly in his sleep about hydraulics, snapping Cain out of his reverent trance and making him freeze up. Glitch rolled over and sprawled out in the bed. Coraline squeezed her eyes tightly shut in pretend sleep.

“Glitch? Coraline?” Cain whispered, checking the occupants of the bed. Keeping her eyes tightly shut, Coraline steadied her breathing until Cain closed the drawer. Turning the key, he sighed and left the room quietly. Shutting the door behind him with a soft click, Coraline opened her eyes quickly and crept out of bed.

The drawer was locked firmly. Coraline pulled the drawer out beneath it and tried to see if she could see anything. No matter how hard she tried she could not get the drawer open or a peek at the contents. Coraline froze as the door opened suddenly, a wary looking Cain glaring at her. A flash of fear and shame crossing his face.

“What you doing out of bed kid?” Cain asked. Coraline padded over quietly to him, holding out her arms for him. Bending down he picked her up easily, stroking her hair softly.

“You weren’t here,” Coraline said quietly, resting her head against his shoulder-her eyes never leaving the set of drawers.

“Sorry kid had to do something important.” Cain said, carrying her back to his bed. She must have had another nightmare. Cain set her down carefully, ruffling her hair fondly as she slapped his hand away and got back into bed. Cain checked the safety on his gun before climbing in with her and Glitch. Glitch slept on blissfully unaware.

Cain settled in the bed, closed his eyes and sighed. He could practically feel her eyes boring into the side of his head.

“What now?” Cain asked tiredly, glancing at the girl.

“Nothing,” Coraline replied closing her eyes. Waiting for Cain to drop back off to sleep, she opened one eye and stared at the drawer curiously. She’d figure out the secret of the shame-drawer if it was the last thing she did.

Title: The Slipper (1/?)
Rating: PG (For Now)
Fandom: Tin Man
Summary: Azkadellia thought it was all over but when she starts to have the dreams again she realises that exorcising the witch was only one step into overcoming her.
Notes: Currently more like an oversized drabble. I'm not quite sure what posessed me when I was writing it. I'll probably rework this at least a dozen times before I'm finally happy with it. But for now here is the Prologue.

The princess ran down the stairs two at a time, stumbling at the bottom and leaving a shoe behind. Turning she ran towards the red slipper, looking up in horror at something at the top of the stairs. Shaking her head at the figure, she pulled back and ran but she wasn’t quick enough. Cold hands grabbed her, dragging her away from the exit towards one of the large mirrors.

Striking out against her captor, she bit and kicked and screamed until she was shoved headfirst into a small dark room. Hitting her head, she fell awkwardly to the floor.

“You can stay there until you learn some manners,” the voice told her as she tried to get up. Stumbling forward the flat metal door shut on her, the lock shutting with a final click. The woman brushed her clothes down, smiling at her reflection and at the child hidden behind the mirrors reflective gaze. “There now, isn’t that much better?”

Hands curling up into tiny, pale fists she struck the door. The noise reverberated around the room but she didn’t hear her or didn’t care. Placing her hands flat against the glass, she whispered quietly for her to let her out. She was unseen and unheard by the woman opposite her. Her captor simply smiled and turned on her heels, leaving the room and locking the ballroom door behind her.

Looking in the dim dark, the princess paced the small room. The room was big enough to sit and stand in but small enough that she couldn’t lie down or move around freely. Feeling the four walls for an exit, a crack or anything to escape, she shrieked in frustration. She couldn’t find anything that could help her. She was alone; she was alone in the dark.

A hand startled her, shaking her out of her sleep before pushing her out of bed.

“Come on sleepy, time to get out of bed!” DG shrieked, climbing onto the bed and bouncing excitedly on it. “Az! Get out of bed! I want to go to the woods today. I heard there are lions and tigers and bears.”

“Oh my!” Az said, struggling to get up and looking at her younger sister with resignation. She had been rather looking forward to a nice day reading. Shaking her head, she helped her sister off the bed and smiled fondly at her. “Come on then, we’ll get ready and see if mother will let us go exploring.”

Though she smiled at DG she couldn’t help the feeling inside of her. The tight, sick feeling insider chest as if she’d forgotten something important. It was probably nothing.

Cain says having a shame-drawer is a perfectly natural thing, even if to him, it's just a SOCK DRAWER.

Yes but are they shameful socks? The kind with little horses on them and stars? Or the plain boring kind with holes in them?

And you know locking the socks away, in case they escape-ROGUE SOCKS ON THE LOOSE. Actually it probably would help as you'd always manage to have a pair and never just one lonely sock.

He keeps his alcohol in there, too. Because sometimes Glitch tends to drive him to drink.
