SLEEPING BEAUTY: A GOTHIC ROMANCE
A tale of two lovers torn apart by dark magic and time. Matthew Bourne as always on form. I adored it, perhaps not as much as his Swan Lake but it was still a firm favourite. I'm going to review it in four parts because I just have so many feelings about it.

For those interested: The ballet has been filmed at Bristol and will be shown on the BBC. (probably at christmas maybe earlier)
ONCE UPON A TIME... )

I am absolutely in love with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland performed by the Royal Ballet. It was on yesterday and I've watched it twice now. Honestly Lauren Cuthbertson is fantastic in it as is Sergei Polunin. Slightly different to the novel in that Alice is a young woman in it with a crush on Jack/The Knave. But despite that difference her wide eyed, youthful, girlish, innocence just shines through. Her eagerness... it's honestly very beautiful.

And now I'm trying to persuade my mother to take me to the Royal Ballet to see it. Honestly it is visually stunning, the dancers in it are amazing, the sets are great, it's funny and it's just genuinely stunning.
You can see clips of it here
